DETAIL ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL PARO | SIGHTSEEING | THIMPHU

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, who will be with you throughout your journey in Bhutan. After a brief introduction, begin your Bhutan experience with a visit to the magnificent Ringpung Dzong, beautifully situated on a hillside overlooking the Paro Valley. Cross the traditional Nyamai Zampa bridge and enter the dzong, where impressive courtyards, intricate woodwork, and ancient Buddhist paintings offer a glimpse into Bhutan's rich spiritual and architectural heritage. Take a moment to admire the peaceful surroundings and, if you wish, spend some quiet time in prayer or meditation.

Continue with lunch at a local restaurant before exploring the historic Drugyel Valley. Visit the viewpoint of Drugyel Dzong, a fortress built in the 17th century to commemorate Bhutan's victory over invading Tibetan forces. On the return journey, stop at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most revered temples, dating back to the 7th century. Later, drive through picturesque villages and along the Paro River toward Thimphu, Bhutan's lively capital. Upon arrival, settle in and enjoy some free time exploring the city at your own pace.

DAY 02: THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING | THIMPHU

Begin your day by discovering Thimphu, Bhutan's charming capital where modern life and centuries-old traditions exist side by side. After breakfast, visit the National Memorial Chorten and experience one of the city's most peaceful corners. Watch local residents offer prayers, turn the prayer wheels, and quietly complete their daily circumambulation. The atmosphere becomes especially vibrant when religious ceremonies are taking place, bringing devotees together for blessings and teachings. Continue to Kuenselphodrang, where the magnificent Buddha Dordenma watches over the valley. Enjoy the expansive views, explore the surroundings, and take a moment to appreciate the colourful prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze. Your next stop is the Institute of Zorig Chusum, where Bhutanese students practise thirteen traditional arts and crafts. Watching them work provides a personal glimpse into the country's living artistic heritage.

After lunch, meet Bhutan's distinctive national animal at the Motithang Takin Preserve and hear the fascinating story behind its origins. Drive uphill to Sangaygang for beautiful views of Thimphu before descending to the lively weekend market beside the Wang Chhu. Browse fresh local produce, meet farmers, and observe the friendly bustle of shoppers. Spend your evening walking through Thimphu's streets, taking in its relaxed urban rhythm and traditional architecture. Finish the day with a hearty Bhutanese dinner at a local restaurant, sharing the table with the flavours and warmth of Bhutanese hospitality.

DAY 03: THIMPHU | PHOBJIKHA

Set out early from Thimphu for the beautiful Phobjikha Valley, a peaceful corner of Bhutan where nature and traditional village life remain beautifully preserved. The journey takes you through changing Himalayan landscapes, from thick forests and winding mountain roads to the spectacular Dochula Pass at 3,150 metres. Pause here to enjoy the fresh mountain air, colourful prayer flags, and the famous 108 Druk Wangyel chortens, with clear-day views stretching toward the snow-capped peaks. Continue downhill through forested slopes to the warmer Punakha region, stopping at Lobesa for a gentle village walk. The trail winds through traditional homes and terraced fields before reaching Chimi Lhakhang, the hilltop temple associated with the legendary Drukpa Kunley, Bhutan's celebrated “Divine Madman.”

After lunch, continue towards Phobjikha through quiet rural landscapes and mountain villages. As the road gradually climbs, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, revealing broad meadows surrounded by forested hills. Phobjikha is best known as the winter home of the rare black-necked cranes, which migrate here from the Tibetan Plateau during the colder months. Their arrival is deeply cherished by local communities, and the valley's peaceful character has been carefully protected. Upon arrival, settle into your farmhouse and spend the evening exploring nearby paths, enjoying the open valley, fresh mountain air, and tranquil rural atmosphere.

DAY 04: PHOBJIKHA SIGHTSEEING | PUNAKHA

Wake up to the peaceful charm of Phobjikha, where cool mountain air, open meadows, and mist-covered hills create a magical start to the day. If you rise early, take a quiet walk around the valley and watch the first sunlight slowly brighten the surrounding mountains. After breakfast at the farmhouse, set out on foot along a scenic trail near the Black-necked Crane Conservation Centre. Beginning near a small village temple, the route crosses a gentle stream before climbing gradually through the hillside. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of the valley, traditional homes, and surrounding forests. The relaxed pace makes this an ideal opportunity to photograph the landscape and observe the simple rhythm of rural Bhutanese life. Continue towards Gangtey Monastery, beautifully positioned on a ridge above the valley. Spend some time exploring the monastery and learning about its long spiritual heritage while enjoying the magnificent views.

Return to the farmhouse after the hike for a warm and satisfying lunch. Later, bid farewell to Phobjikha and begin the scenic drive towards Punakha, Bhutan's former capital. The road winds through forested hills and quiet settlements, offering plenty of opportunities to admire the changing scenery. After around two hours, arrive in Punakha and check into your hotel. Relax, enjoy the warmer climate, and settle into the welcoming atmosphere of the valley.

DAY 05: PUNAKHA SIGHTSEEING | PARO

After breakfast, spend the morning discovering the remarkable Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan's most treasured landmarks. Set at the meeting point of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, this beautifully preserved fortress is steeped in stories of Bhutan's religious and royal history. Walk through its impressive entrance, spacious courtyards, ornate woodwork, and richly decorated temple halls while your guide brings its past to life. Take time to admire the intricate details and peaceful atmosphere, and you may encounter young monks going about their daily routines. Inside the sacred Kuenray, the artistry and spiritual character of the centuries-old temple offer a particularly memorable experience. The dzong continues to play an important role in Bhutanese religious life and remains the winter home of the central monastic body.

Later, drive north through the countryside to begin a scenic hike towards Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Cross a suspension bridge over the Mo Chhu and follow a gentle trail through rice fields, traditional farmland, and pine-covered slopes. As you climb higher, beautiful views gradually open across the valley. Reaching the hilltop chorten feels like a rewarding finale, with its striking architecture, colourful murals, and panoramic surroundings. Explore the monument before descending for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, begin the picturesque drive towards Paro, where you will spend the night.

DAY 06: TIGER NEST HIKE | PARO

Begin the day with an unforgettable journey to Paro Taktsang, famously known as the Tiger's Nest, Bhutan's most iconic and sacred monastery. Dramatically positioned on a cliff high above the Paro Valley, the monastery appears almost impossible to reach. According to Bhutanese tradition, Guru Rinpoche arrived here in the eighth century on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave, establishing this site as an important centre of Buddhist devotion. The hike begins from Ramthangka and follows a steadily climbing trail through beautiful pine forests. Take your time and enjoy the changing views along the way. About halfway up, stop at a viewpoint café for refreshments and admire a spectacular close view of the monastery clinging to the cliffside.

Continue along the trail to reach the monastery, where you can explore its sacred shrines and absorb the peaceful atmosphere surrounding this extraordinary place. After taking in the breathtaking views, return to the viewpoint for a well-earned lunch before descending to the valley. Later, relax at your hotel and enjoy some free time exploring Paro town. In the evening, visit a traditional farmhouse for a soothing Bhutanese hot stone bath, followed by an opportunity to try the country's national sport, archery. End this memorable day by sharing a delicious traditional dinner with a local family and experiencing their warm Bhutanese hospitality.

DAY 07: AIRPORT DROP | BON VOYAGE

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport to board your flight to your onward destination.
