DETAIL ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL PARO | SIGHTSEEING | PARO

Begin your extraordinary aerial journey across the pristine Himalayan skies, where magnificent snow-clad peaks unfold beneath you, including the awe-inspiring Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain. For the most spectacular vistas, select a seat on the left-hand side of the aircraft. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, meet your dedicated guide and chauffeur before enjoying a refreshing welcome break in Paro town.

Your cultural exploration begins at the magnificent Paro Rinpung Dzong, a historic fortress once serving as the seat of the powerful Paro Penlop. Wander through its sacred courtyards and admire exquisite murals depicting the Four Guardian Kings, Tshering Namdrup, and the Wheel of Life, while your guide reveals their profound Buddhist symbolism. Continue into the temple precinct, where centuries-old traditions and spiritual devotion create an atmosphere of profound serenity. After lunch, visit the venerable Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples, believed to have been established in the 7th century by Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo. Conclude the day at the Drukgyel Dzong Viewpoint, overlooking the historic “Fortress of the Victorious Drukpa,” a monument commemorating Bhutan's triumph over Tibetan invaders. Thereafter, drive to your hotel, unwind at leisure, and enjoy a relaxing dinner.

DAY 02: TIGER NEST HIKE | PARO

Following breakfast at the hotel, embark on an acclimatisation hike to the iconic Tiger's Nest Temple, locally known as Taktshang. Dramatically perched on a sheer cliff approximately 1,000 metres above the picturesque Paro Valley, this revered monastery is one of Bhutan's most significant spiritual landmarks. According to legend, the eighth-century Buddhist master Guru Rinpoche arrived at this sacred site on the back of a tigress, meditated within a cave, subdued negative forces, and established the site as an important centre of Buddhist teachings. The hike begins with an approximately three-hour ascent through tranquil pine forests along a scenic mountain trail. At the midway point, pause at the viewpoint café for refreshments while enjoying a spectacular perspective of the monastery. From here, continue for approximately 50 minutes to reach the sacred monastery complex.

Upon arrival, explore the monastery's revered shrines and sacred sites, including Guru Rinpoche's principal meditation cave, the Guru Sungjoem Temple, Langchen Pelgi Singye Kudung, the inner sanctum of Dorji Drolay, and the Eight Manifestations Shrine of Guru Rinpoche. Following the visit, descend to the viewpoint café for a well-deserved hot lunch. After lunch, continue with an approximately 1.5-hour descent to the Ramthangka base, where your vehicle will be waiting to transfer you comfortably back to the hotel.

Weather and visibility permitting, you may also enjoy an impressive first glimpse of the sacred and majestic Mount Jomolhari rising dramatically above the surrounding mountains.

DAY 04: THANGTHANGKA | JAGOTHANG

Distance: 19 km | Duration: 5–6 hours | Ascent: 480 m | Camp Altitude: 4,080 m

As you make your way higher, the magnificent presence of Mount Jomolhari emerges intermittently across the horizon, adding a profound sense of majesty to the journey. Along the route, you will pass an army outpost and encounter the simple dwellings of yak herders, while enjoying spectacular panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, dramatic mountain ridges, and the pristine high-altitude wilderness. The trail continues through the traditional highland settlements of Soe, Takethang, and Dangochang, offering an authentic opportunity to observe the distinctive lifestyle, customs, and enduring cultural traditions of Bhutan's mountain communities.

This leisurely evening offers a pleasant opportunity to experience the capital's modern character while remaining closely connected to its rich cultural traditions.

DAY 10: THIMPHU | PUNAKHA

Leave Thimphu behind and set out toward Punakha, Bhutan's former capital, celebrated for its timeless heritage and as the winter seat of the Je Khenpo and the Central Monastic Body. The journey climbs gently toward Dochula Pass, standing at 3,100 metres above sea level. Around an hour from Thimphu, this celebrated mountain pass is a rewarding pause along the route, particularly when the skies are clear and the snow-capped Himalayan peaks appear dramatically across the horizon. After a relaxed local lunch, continue to Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan's most magnificent architectural treasures. Known as Pungtang Dechen Phodrang, or the Palace of Great Happiness, the fortress stands majestically where the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers meet.
