THE FOUNDER

Ugyen Tenzin, Founder of Adventure Planet Travels, is a visionary entrepreneur whose passion for Bhutan and its tourism industry has shaped one of the country's most respected destination management companies. Shortly after graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from Sherubtse College in Kanglung; then Bhutan's premier institution of higher learning affiliated with the University of Delhi, India; he chose an unconventional path by establishing Adventure Planet Travels in 2006. Despite having no prior experience in the tourism sector, he embraced the challenge with determination, dedicating himself to understanding every aspect of the industry, including tour operations, destination marketing, product development, and team building. His commitment to continuous learning and innovation laid the foundation for the company's steady growth and reputation for excellence.

In 2009, Ugyen was awarded the prestigious Australian Government AusAID Scholarship to pursue a Master of Business specialising in Tourism Management at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. Completing his master's degree in 2011 proved to be a transformative milestone, equipping him with global perspectives on sustainable tourism, destination management, and international marketing. Returning to Bhutan with renewed vision and expertise, he integrated international best practices with Bhutan's unique values, enabling Adventure Planet Travels to deliver authentic, meaningful, and high quality travel experiences while remaining at the forefront of global tourism trends.

Beyond his leadership role, Ugyen is a passionate explorer and creative professional who continually researches new destinations and develops innovative travel experiences across Bhutan. He is a seasoned photographer, an aspiring guitarist and violinist, an avid motorcyclist and trekker, and a skilled graphic and website designer. He also travels extensively to participate in international tourism fairs, networking events, and business forums, strengthening global partnerships while promoting Bhutan as an exceptional travel destination. Guided by curiosity, creativity, and a deep commitment to responsible tourism, Ugyen continues to inspire Adventure Planet Travels with a vision that celebrates Bhutan's cultural heritage, pristine landscapes, and enduring spirit, ensuring every journey leaves visitors with lasting memories and meaningful connections to the Kingdom.
