DETAIL ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL PARO | SIGHTSEEING | THIMPHU

Your Bhutan adventure begins the moment you land at Paro International Airport, where our representative will greet you with a warm Bhutanese welcome and accompany you throughout your journey. After a short introduction, head into the heart of Paro to discover the impressive Ringpung Dzong, perched above the valley with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Walk across the traditional Nyamai Zampa bridge and step inside the dzong to explore its peaceful courtyards, detailed wooden craftsmanship, and remarkable Buddhist paintings. Take your time soaking in the calm atmosphere, with an opportunity to pause for quiet reflection, prayer, or meditation. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue toward the scenic Drugyel Valley and visit the viewpoint of Drugyel Dzong, a historic fortress dating back to the 17th century and built to celebrate Bhutan's victory over Tibetan invaders.

On the way back, make a meaningful stop at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples, believed to have been established in the 7th century. Its serene setting and deep spiritual significance make it a wonderful place to experience Bhutan's ancient Buddhist traditions. From Paro, the journey continues toward Thimphu, following the winding road through charming villages and alongside the Paro River. As the landscape gradually changes from countryside to the lively streets of the capital, you will get your first glimpse of everyday life in Thimphu. Once you arrive, check in at your hotel, relax after the day's journey, and enjoy some free time to wander around the city, discover local shops and cafés, or simply take in the atmosphere at your own pace.

DAY 02: THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING | THIMPHU

After breakfast, spend the morning getting to know Thimphu, Bhutan's lively capital, where traditional customs blend naturally with everyday modern life. Begin at the National Memorial Chorten, a peaceful landmark where locals gather to pray, spin prayer wheels, and walk around the stupa in quiet devotion. From there, head to Kuenselphodrang and the impressive Buddha Dordenma, enjoying sweeping views across the valley and the colourful prayer flags moving gently in the mountain breeze. Continue to the Institute of Zorig Chusum, where young Bhutanese students learn and practise thirteen traditional arts and crafts. Watching their careful work offers a closer look at the skills and traditions that continue to shape Bhutanese culture.

After lunch, visit the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan's unusual national animal and learn about the fascinating legend surrounding the takin. Continue uphill to Sangaygang for another beautiful perspective of Thimphu before making your way down to the weekend market beside the Wang Chhu. Wander through the stalls, see farmers selling fresh produce, and experience the friendly energy of local shoppers. Later, enjoy a relaxed walk through Thimphu before ending the day with a delicious Bhutanese dinner at a local restaurant, surrounded by warm hospitality and shared stories.

DAY 03: THIMPHU | PUNAKHA

After breakfast, bid farewell to Thimphu and journey toward Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan and the winter home of the Je Khenpo and Central Monastic Body. The road gradually climbs through beautiful mountain scenery until you reach Dochula Pass at 3,100 metres. On a clear day, the pass offers an unforgettable panorama of snow-covered Himalayan peaks stretching across the horizon. Take a leisurely break here to enjoy the crisp mountain air and visit the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, built as a meaningful expression of Bhutanese faith, gratitude, and remembrance. Surrounded by prayer flags and peaceful mountain views, Dochula provides a memorable introduction to the spiritual character of the journey.

From Dochula, the road winds downhill through forests, rugged valleys, and dramatic mountain landscapes before reaching the warmer and greener countryside of Lobesa. Leave the vehicle behind and enjoy a gentle walk through rice fields, passing traditional homes on your way to Chimi Lhakhang, the famous Temple of Fertility. After lunch, continue to Punakha Dzong, beautifully positioned at the meeting point of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Explore its elegant courtyards, richly decorated temples, and finely carved details while experiencing the peaceful presence of the resident monks.

DAY 04: KHAMSUM YUELLAY HIKE | PARO

Following breakfast in the hotel, leave Punakha for a short drive into the countryside, where a rewarding walk to Khamsum Yuellay Namgyal Chorten awaits. The trail takes you through peaceful rural surroundings, with terraced rice fields, green forests, tall pine trees, and small traditional homes along the way. As you walk, enjoy beautiful views across the valley and observe the quiet routines of village life. The gentle pace makes this more than just a hike; it is a chance to breathe in the fresh mountain air, enjoy nature, and experience the countryside away from Bhutan's busier roads. Your guide will accompany you along the trail, sharing stories about the landscape, local traditions, and the communities that call this valley home.

At the top, discover the striking four-storey Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, an impressive example of Bhutanese craftsmanship and sacred architecture. Step inside to admire its colourful murals, intricate details, and meaningful Buddhist imagery while learning about the chorten's history and spiritual purpose. Take a little time to enjoy the peaceful setting and wide valley views before making your way back down. After the hike, relax over lunch beside the river, then begin the scenic drive toward Paro, carrying with your memories of Bhutan's landscapes, traditions, and warm countryside charm.

DAY 05: TIGER NEST HIKE | PARO

Rise early for one of Bhutan's most memorable experiences—a hike to the legendary Paro Taktsang, better known as Tiger's Nest. Perched dramatically on a sheer mountainside above the Paro Valley, this sacred monastery has become a symbol of Bhutan itself. Local tradition tells that Guru Rinpoche reached the site in the eighth century, riding on the back of a tigress, and meditated in a cave here. Your walk begins at Ramthangka, leading uphill through fragrant pine forests and peaceful mountain trails. There is no need to rush; pause along the way to catch your breath and enjoy the changing scenery. At the viewpoint café, stop for refreshments and take in an impressive view of the monastery seemingly suspended against the cliffs.

Continue toward the monastery and explore its sacred temples, shrines, and prayer rooms while enjoying the remarkable setting. Afterward, return to the viewpoint for lunch before making your way back to the valley. Spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring Paro town at your own pace. Later, visit a traditional farmhouse for a rejuvenating Bhutanese hot stone bath, followed by an introduction to archery, Bhutan's national sport. Finish the day with a home-cooked dinner and genuine Bhutanese hospitality.

DAY 06: AIRPORT DROP | BON VOYAGE

Your Bhutan adventure comes to an end with a heartfelt farewell at Paro Airport. As you depart, take with you unforgettable memories of Bhutan's majestic landscapes, rich culture, peaceful spirituality, timeless traditions, and the genuine warmth of its people.
